STEAM Kit pick up will take place on December 9th from 4-6 pm or December10th from 4-5 pm at Pfau Hall (Ivy Tech Sellersburg).

Kits include items needed, materials to explain your activities and a link to a video where a teacher will demonstrate your activities and give you an opportunity to send a video back to the teacher! The ages next to the kits are just recommendations and may well fit your child’s needs above or below the listed ages. Please order today, as each kit has LIMITED quantities available!

Science Activities to Amaze Your Friends and Family (K-5th Grade)

You will evaluate scientific observations and properties, while learning the scientific principles used to perform a variety of interesting science tricks. Items needed for the tricks will be included (although you may need a few household items). Further, you will receive a link to a teacher demonstrating the tricks and sharing some of the science behind the tricks. Included will also be a link to send a video back to the teacher where you can share what you have learned! You are sure to amaze your friends and family with the science tricks you learn!

Discovering STEM – Buildings & Bridge Structures (2nd – 8th Grade)

Discover the engineer within you! You will engage in problem-solving and creative thinking through invention-based learning. Experiment with different types of bridges and find out how their architectural design provides massive weight support. Discover the types of forces applied and how engineers manage to reduce their effects. Build 9 working models such as a house, a pyramid, and varies types of bridges. See a picture of the kit you will receive below! You will also have an opportunity to share your creations with your teacher through a video link!

Discovering STEM – Newton's Laws - Inertia, Momentum, Energy(2nd – 8th Grade)

With Newton's laws construction set learn all about the ingenious Newton's laws of motion which are the basis of classical mechanics that still describe most everyday life situations. Observe the effects of kinetic and potential energy and see first-hand how energy is transformed from one form to the other. Build 8 working models such as a ballistic catapult, a gravity fan, a collision car, a moving cabin, a balloon powered plane and a Dragster. See a picture of the kit you will receive below. You will also have an opportunity to share your creations with your teacher through a video link!

Discovering STEM – Physics Laws -Inertia, Friction, Circular Motion and Energy Conservation (2nd – 8th Grade)

This kit brings complex concepts into clear focus for budding engineers and scientists with award winning components and step by step illustrated assembly instructions. Learn about basic laws of physics through assembly and experimentation. You can build 6 working, experimental assemblies such as a inertia test platform, sharpening wheel, rocket launcher, and a rubber band car. See a picture of the kit you will receive below. You will also have an opportunity to share your creations with your teacher through a video link!

Mini Masterpieces (K-5th Grade)

Go to the video link provided in the kit, to explore the TWO kits you will receive. First, you will explore the marbling paint kit. Unleash & spark your creativity: Instead of painting on paper or canvas, try painting on... water! Our special painting process lets you create dazzling artwork in a completely new way. Layer paint, smear, drag, and 'transfer' it onto the paper. Let it dry and voila! Beautiful marble painted art! Follow the simple illustrated instruction guide and create fantastic art.

Second, experiment with diamond painting learn techniques and create 4 unique paintings; one each of a turtle, penguin, owl and panda.

Clay Masterpieces (K-5th Grade)

Go to the video link provided in the kit, learn techniques artists use when working with clay and then create your own clay masterpiece! Also, in your kit you will receive a unique bisque piece you can’t buy in the store normally, that you can paint (using the included paint and paintbrushes, as well as a bubble technique outlined in the video). 

You will bring this bisque piece to Earth and Fire Pottery Studio in New Albany to have it fired. Earth and Fire will turn your bisque pieces into masterpieces to treasure for years to come!
